When you hire a contractor, do you know who will be actually doing the work in your home? Does the contractor? It’s important to ask and make sure the people actually doing the work are people you want in your house.
It’s a fact that many of the contractors on the first page of Google do not have their own employees! What does that mean for you as a homeowner? It means that the contractor you speak to during an estimate may not be the person actually performing the work, and they may
be hiring subcontracted labor. Most times this works out just fine. Many subcontractors are wonderful people who do wonderful work. But they haven’t been as thoroughly vetted as people who are hired by a company as direct employees.
How can you know? Before signing a contract, ask the contractor who will actually be at your home doing the work. Do they know if they employees or subcontractors? How long have they been with the company? It is okay to be inquisitive. After all, these people will be around your home, family, and pets.
